Last week I added a post about some of the provinces of Afghanistan. This week it is Pakistan’s turn. Each graphic below is linked to one of our previous blog posts that relates in some way to that province. Hope you enjoy exploring this beautiful country!
Provinces of Pakistan

I am a TCK – Third Culture Kid. Born in Canada but grew up in Central and South Asia. My mother, my father and my wife are from three different countries. As an adult I have lived and worked on three different continents. My life thus far has been an adventure. It can also be confusing. Sometimes I write to reflect on the past, sometimes to try to make sense of the present. I am a teacher, husband and father. I teach Design & Technology at a high school in the UK and think that everyone would benefit from learning more practical skills, myself included. I am passionate about faith and about people. I love learning about history. I love to travel and to meet new people and explore different cultures. And the more I explore the more I want to catch a glimpse of the other side of the mountains… View all posts by Bravo
Your maps and information is a terrific way to present these countries. I would like to do the same for Nigeria and Egypt. How is this done connecting the regions to your blog? I am particularly interested in connecting areas of Egypt and Nigeria with the traditional crafts. Can you advise how you created this format? Thank you so much for this creative approach. Lesley

Sounds like a great idea! I just added these as images to a blog post and then used the hyperlink feature to link each to a blog post. I am sure there are much more sophisticated ways too 🙂

An interesting graphic might be the derivation of the name Pakistan. Very few people seem to know it is an acronym. Is it the only country that has such a name? I think it is taken for granted because of the -stan at the end!

True, maybe that can be next. Both an acronym and has the meaning “land of the pure”.

Fascinating posts, thanks. Do the provinces date back to before the creation of Pakistan in 1947?

Thanks for reading. To some extent they do date back, but some names such as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (formerly the Northwest Frontier Province) and Gilgit-Baltistan (formerly the Northern Areas) are less than a decade old. Punjab province was also split, so India has its own Punjab.
